BARA BHASKARAN

Amazing Museum 2013-2016 are an archipelagic history of the present. Reconstructing the Kerala’s past within the broader Indian conversation, Bara Bhaskaran draws on a variety of sources to convey a vision that is distinct and engaged,attesting to the disappeared nuance of a true history from below.

 


GABRIEL LESTER

Gabriel Lester’s Dwelling Kappiri Spirits is a large installation at Aspinwall featuring a floating room. Lace curtain, aluminium, wood, light and forever burning cigar dimensions variable.


VOLDEMARS JOHANSONS

Voldemars Johansons’ Thirst is an audio visual documentation of a stormy North Atlantic Ocean. The swirling sea and sky fold into each other and become intangible and quantifiable.


K R SUNIL

Vanishing Life-Worlds, is a photographic series that depicts the social and commercial lives of people in the port town of Ponnani, Kerala.


TOM BURCKHARDT

Studio Flood is a fictional installation constructed entirely of cardboard,black paint and wood. It depicts an artist’s studio inundated by catastrophic floodwaters and turned upside-down.


TAKAYUKI YAMAMOTO

Tale of the god of kiln by Takayuki Yamamoto presents a statue of himself as the Japanese god of fire, Kama-gami. Represented as a life-size statue he throws a small golden ball from his belly button every now and then.


CHITTROVANU MAZUMDAR

River of Idea is an attempt to create a river; a body that is punctuated by islands be that the reflected light of metal worked lamps or the books that hold the apparitions of projected images of water, or the fictive cabinets of imagined geographies.
